TackleKept: Fishing Knots is an offline fishing reference app for iPhone and iPad, made by Salman Khakwani. This page explains what the app does with your information. The short version: it collects nothing.
The short version
- No account, no sign-in, no email address needed.
- No servers. The app does not send your information anywhere.
- No analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party SDKs.
- Everything you create (favorites, saved rigs, kit list, trip notes and photos) stays on your phone or iPad.
What stays on your device
Your tackle box. Favorite knots, saved rigs, pinned knots, your kit checklist, and your trip notes are stored in the app’s private storage on your device. I cannot see them.
Photos. If you add photos to a trip note, they are copied into the app’s private storage on your device. You can take a photo with the camera or choose one from your photo library. The app only gets the photos you pick. It does not read the rest of your library.
Location. The Today tab uses your approximate location to work out solunar bite windows and moon phase. The calculation happens on your device. The app asks for “While Using” permission only, and it remembers your last position on the device so Today works offline. Your location is never sent to me or to anyone else. If you decline, the app uses a default location and tells you the times are approximate.
Settings. Your choices, such as water type, units and appearance, are stored on your device.
Purchases
TackleKept is free to start. Extra packs, the yearly plan and the lifetime unlock are bought through Apple’s App Store. Apple processes the payment. I never see your card or Apple Account details. Apple may give me summary sales reports that do not identify you. Apple’s own privacy policy covers what Apple collects.
Downloads
When you unlock a content pack, it downloads from Apple’s servers as On-Demand Resources. Apple handles that download under its own policies. After the download, the pack works offline.
Sharing and selling data
I do not collect personal data, so there is nothing to share, sell or rent.
Backups
Your device backup, such as iCloud Backup or a computer backup, may include the app’s data, including trip notes and photos. That is controlled by your Apple settings, not by the app.
Deleting your data
You can delete any favorite, rig, kit item, or trip note inside the app. Deleting a trip note also deletes its photos. Deleting the app removes everything it stored on your device. Because I hold no copy, there is nothing for me to delete on my side.
Children
The app is suitable for all ages. It does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If the app changes in a way that affects your privacy, I will update this page and change the date at the top.
